- One quart of milk
- Three cupfuls of boiled and strained pumpkin
- One-half cupful of molasses
- One and one-half cupfuls of sugar
- Yolks and whites of four eggs, beaten separately
- One tablespoonful each of cinnamon and ginger
- A little salt
"Beat all together, and bake with an under-crust. Boston marrow or Hubbard squash maybe be substituted for pumpkin, and are preferred by many, as possessing a less strong flavor."
