Ol' Timey Southern Fried Steak with Milk Gravy (1974)

"For each pound of round steak, use:
  • 1 tspn salt
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbspn fat
  • Onions
  • Carrots
  • Pepper to taste
"Cut steak into serving pieces, salt and pepper, and roll in flour.  Pound in flour with the edge of a heavy pan.  

"Brown in fat, and add some sliced onions and carrots. Cover and simmer until tender. Make a milk gravy of drippings left in pan, and pour over steak."
