Steamed Boston Brown Bread (1930)

  • 2 cups graham flour 
  • 2 cups cornmeal
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 3 cups sweet milk
  • 2 tbspns sugar
  • 1 1/4 tspns baking soda
  • 1 tspn salt
  • Raisins or nuts (optional)

Mix ingredients and steam in cans. Fill cans only half full.

Take from cans and set in oven until dry.
