Classic Appalachian Buttermilk Pie (1974)

"Combine 2 beaten eggs and 1 cup sugar. Add 2 tablespoons soft butter, 2 tablespoons flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 cup buttermilk, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and a couple dashes of nutmeg.

"Stir together, and pour into unbaked pie shell.  Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes, then reduce heat and bake at 35- degrees for 30 minutes or more, or until firm."
