Date Muffins (1924)

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 tspns baking powder
  • 1/2 tspn salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 lb dates, chopped
  • 1/4 cup sugar
Cream butter, and add the beaten egg, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. 

Stir in the milk and the chopped dates. Put in greased muffin tins, and bake in hot oven for 25 minutes. 

(Note - Per Google, "A moderate oven has a range of 350-375 °F (180-190 °C), and a hot oven has temperature set to 400-450 °F (200-230 °C).")
